The NAS Jakarta Early Years team provides an innovative and stimulating inquiry-based learning environment to help your child to flourish. We believe that every child is a unique individual who brings a wealth of ideas, opportunities and deep curiosity to our school.
Early Learning Journey
What is it that makes the NAS Jakarta Early Years program special? Is it our highly qualified and passionate educators? Is it our beautiful and thoughtful indoor and outdoor learning environments? Is it our strong belief and understanding in our play-based approach towards Early Years education? It is a culmination of all these factors and more. Our holistic, community-centred program puts your child at the centre of their learning. We value and embrace all our families in our diverse learning environment and together will lay the foundations of life-long learning for your child. We know, and value, that your child is unique. That is why our educational offer is tailor-made for each child in our care and they are each supported and challenged at the level appropriate to their developmental stage.
Curriculum and Philosophy
We stay up-to-date with best educational practices from around the world and enhance our own offer accordingly. Our main curriculum guidance comes from the UK. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum is a robust, enabling and well-rounded document that values every child as a unique and competent learner who will develop and learn in their own way and at their own pace. Our Early Years teachers also embrace the Reggio Emilia approach towards education; believing that children learn best through self-directed, experiential play in a relationship driven environment. We recognise that the importance of play cannot be understated. Play is a fundamental part of a child’s learning journey that will only strengthen their later educational successes.
The prime areas of learning in the EYFS are Personal, Social, Emotional Development; Communication and Language; and Physical Development. These overarching development areas are taught implicitly and explicitly through the well thought out activities on offer in our learning environments and are complimented and enhanced by the EYFS specific areas of learning, which are: Literacy, Numeracy, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
