Global Jaya School has been fully authorised International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme school since the 2004-2005 school year. We have since successfully undergone two evaluation visits and continue to implement a comprehensive and inspirational programme.
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is an international curriculum framework designed for all children between the ages of 4 and 12 years (Kindergarten to Year 6). The PYP focuses on student learning, using a concept based inquiry approach. Students continually reflect on their learning in relation to what is happening inside and outside the classroom. Their learning is linked to the issues and experiences that happen in the world around them. Inquiry is the engine of individual growth (academic, social, physical, emotional and spiritual) and international mindedness.
The curriculum focuses on nurturing the students’ academic, social and emotional well-being. It encourages students to develop independence and take responsibility for their own learning, as well as strive to understand their role in the local and global context. All teachers work together to design and implement an authentically integrated curriculum wherever possible.
The curriculum is designed around six transdisciplinary themes which are revisited each year and incorporate engaging and challenging central ideas and lines of inquiry. Reflection is a major component and is utilized to ensure students can articulate and assess their own learning progress.
The PYP ensures a globally comprehensive curriculum with an in depth understanding within the local context. It assists students to develop their knowledge, skills and conceptual understanding in learning environments beyond simply the classroom.
